  • Bookings can be made by emailing archives@croydon.gov.uk, providing:

    • Details of the items you wish to view

    • Preferences for day and time of an appointment.

    Please note, appointments must be booked with at least five working days’ notice to allow enough time to retrieve material from the stores, and perform condition and closure checks.

  • We welcome walk-in appointments for resources available on open access in the Research Room at staff discretion if there is availability.

Getting Here

  • Croydon Clocktower is close by many busy bus stops including:

    Katharine Street (Stops KK, KL, KM)

    Fairfield Halls (Stop KC)

    Park Street (Stops KJ, KH) 

    Croydon Flyover (KN, KP, KO)

  • The Croydon Clocktower is less than a 15 minute walk* to two main train stations.

    East Croydon Station (0.5 miles) - or you can take buses 119, 197, 312 or 466.


    West Croydon Station (0.7 miles) which is also connected to the Windrush Line (London Overground) is an 8 minute slow walk. Alternatively, take bus 60, 109 or 250 from outside the station or routes 166, 264, 405, 407, 412 or 455 from stand B2 in the bus station.

    There are regular services from/to London Victoria, London Bridge, Thameslink stations, Gatwick Airport and south coast destinations.

  • The nearest tram stops are:

    George’s Street, which is a short walk of 280 meters (a slow 8-minute walk) from the Croydon Clocktower main entrance on Katharine Street.

    Wellesley Road, which is around 650 meters away

  • The nearest multi-storey car parks are Fairfield in Barclay Road and Surrey Street in Charles Street.

    All car parks have dedicated bays for blue badge holders. There is also on-street parking for blue badge holders on Fell Road, by St George's Walk.
