Pop concerts we used to have
... it seemed to be a particular thing of that age.
I think it was late ‘70s early ‘80s.
No, perhaps it was the early ‘70s.
Young girls would come to pop concerts,
get all worked and faint...
At one point we had people
laid out all along the corridor...
St John’s first aiders were in
and attending to them, but we had the job of h
auling them out. And you could tell as
they were getting worked up who was going out.
And two I particularly remember
was one girl who sitting one seat in
from the gangway mid stalls
and she was obviously getting worked up
and I thought I ’m going up there
because she’s going to go out.
And just as I got to the end of the row,
her boyfriend turned to her and said
'what’s the matter with you, you silly fool?’
and smacked her face, so she didn't go out!
But it was the same evening
much nearer the lower
stalls there were two girls,
quite young I should say,
about thirteen or fourteen ,
and they were obviously going to,
I walked up and they were
on the middle of the row so slightly
awkward to get to but they
just clasped each together
as I got to the end of the row and sank down
almost under the seats, together!
But they came round.
But we had to haul them out
to get them attended to.
