What's in a ledger?
These ledgers were used to record
the events that were booked
into all the spaces at the Fairfield,
both public and private
to keep track of the use
of all the spaces within the venue.
They show the wide range of events
booked for this period
in the Concert Hall from artists
such as Segovia, a classical guitarist
and The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
to Cliff Richard, Wishbone Ash and Fairport.
The Ashcroft Theatre programme
included a professional production
of ‘Little Women’,
a Croydon Stagers production
of ‘The Miracle Worker’
and ‘Rookery Nook’ by CODA Drama.
In addition, the Arnhem Gallery
hosted Frank and Peggy Spencer
ballroom classes on a weekly basis
as well as Chamber of Commerce meetings,
dinners and business meetings.
Details are also recorded of exhibitions
in the Sun Lounge including,
'Oils and Watercolours'
by Freda Potts
and 'Paintings and Pewter'
by Pat Mansey and Jack Rothera.
