John Chisnall exhibits at Fairfield
Let me tell you a little bit
about my connection with Croydon.
I trained as a surveyor
I came to work in Croydon in 1965.
I’ve painted all of my life pretty much.
I really started painting seriously
in the seventies.
I ran that, built that career up
in parallel with my primary career
So when as I say the department
closed down I took it as an opportunity
where I could spend more time painting
as well as carrying on,
on a consultancy basis in construction.
I had my first one man show ever.
It was in Fairfield Halls.
I think in 1985 probably.
It was a success commercially,
and we quite enjoyed doing it.
There was about, from what I remember,
seventy or eighty pictures exhibited
in the sun lounge.
Since then, I think I have done
three or four more exhibitions at Fairfield.
The last one I think being in 2001 probably.
