how he became interested in acupuncture:
"I was working
at the ACE centre in West Croydon
as a buddy for people with HIV and AIDS.
And also working there was
a practitioner of oriental medicine
called John Tindall.
I had a patch
of psoriasis on my back,
that I couldn't get rid of
and it used to drive me wild,
and western medicine
could do nothing for it."
John got rid of it in three weeks
using acupuncture and Chinese herbs.
And I thought
'this is amazing!'
I started working alongside him
he offered me a student position
at the South Western Hospital
For four years
I studied traditional Chinese medicine
including acupuncture and moxabustion
as well as assorted Chinese exercises
such as Chi Gong and Tai Chi.
Then in 1995
I went to Beijing
to advance my studies.
While I was there
I also worked in several hospitals
and taught acupuncture
to students from all over the world.
And when I came back
I set up my own practice
based in Croydon
I think Western medicine
doesn't really equate
emotional and physical problems
These alternative health therapies
actually prove far more beneficial
than any western medication.
