'Over Our Skies' Exhibitions

To mark the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and Blitz, the Museum of Croydon is running two 'Over Our Skies' exhibitions exploring Croydons role in the events of 1940.

Croydon's Battle of Britain

18 September - 31 December 2010

Discover Croydon's vital strategic role in this historic battle. Using archive material and oral history, the exhibition looks at what daily life would have been like for Croydon residents, as well as the enduring legacy of the Battle for the borough.

Thursday: Closed
Friday: 0900 - 1800
Saturdays: 0900 - 1700 (1st and 3rd Saturday of each month)

Croydon's Blitz

18 September - 31 December 2010
Museum of Croydon, level 1, Croydon Clocktower

A collaboration between the Croydon Youth Theatre Organisation, local people who lived through the Blitz and the Museum of Croydon, this exhibition explores experiences of childhood for Croydon residents during the Blitz.

Opening times:
Monday to Saturday, 10.30am - 5pm

Over Our Skies Events Programme

To celebrate the opening of the exhibitions, events are taking place at Croydon Clocktower on Saturday 18 September. Throughout the day a Local Studies Fair, including World War Two themed talks and activites will take place on the ground floor.

As part of Open House London 2010, join our character-led tours exploring Croydon's Town Hall in the 1940s. Tours depart from the Museum of Croydon at 10.30am, 11.30am, 2pm and 3pm. Duration 45 minutes. To book a place on these tours, please call 020 8253 1030.
