We English
18 November 2010 - 26 February 2011
This exhibition showcases work by Croydon born award-winning British photographer Simon Roberts, who was appointed official artist for the 2010 election. We English is the result of Simons journey around the country documenting the landscape. Informed by the photography of his predecessors, including Martin Parr, and by the romantic tradition of English landscape painting, Roberts depicts ordinary people at leisure, congregating for a common purpose and shared experience.
As well as the events organised by the Museum of Croydon listed above, Croydon Clocktower has a year-round programme of cinema, live performance and other exhibitions and events. Find out more by visiting www.croydonclocktower.org.uk (opens in new window). You can also join the Clocktower Mailing List (opens in new window) to receive email updates on selected events.
