Cooper & Sons' Boots
1880s
John Cooper was a snob.
In the 1800s, 'snob' meant 'cobbler'
and a cobbler made shoes.

John's company,
Cooper & Sons,
made these elegant ladies boots
in his huge Steam Boot Factory.

Special outworkers,
who only got paid
for what they produced,
finished off the boots by hand.
