Battle of Britain Lace
1942 - 1946
This intricate lace panel
was given to Croydon
to honour it's role
in the Battle of Britain.

Royal Air Force fighter squadrons
were based at Kenley, Croydon Airport
and nearby Biggin Hill.

During the main battle in 1940,
they defended London
and South East England
from attack by enemy bombers.
