General Strike Newsletter
This newsletter was produced in Croydon in May 1926 during the General Strike, when three and a half million people stayed away from work. Many people in Croydon joined the Strike, many others ignored it or helped break it by volunteering to do essential work. The Strike took place partly in protest against the Depression and unemployment. But unemployment continued to rise, and by 1931 there were three million out of work.
