Title

Patients' Grave Markers
20th century
Description

Two grave markers from the cemetery of Cane Hill Mental Hospital, Portnalls Road, Coulsdon. The grave markers have no names on them, only the patient's number. Relatives could erect headstones if they wished, but there were few in the graveyard. Some patients had not been visited for decades by the time they died. The cemetery has since been cleared and housing built on the site.
