Henry Havelock Ellis' Studies
1897 - 1928
Havelock Ellis was a psychologist
and writer
who shocked people with his openness
about sexuality.

Seven volumes of Henry Havelock Ellis'
Studies in the Psychology of Sex
were published.

They were first published in Germany,
which was thought to be
a more tolerant country than Britain.

When the books appeared in Britain,
a bookseller who sold it was prosecuted
and the books were declared obscene.
