Popular Postman Pat
The British animated television series,
Postman Pat, was created
by John Cunliffe.
The children's series tells the story
of the friendly postman Pat Clifton and
his ‘black and white’ cat Jess.
The first episodes were shown on BBC
in 1981. The show was so popular
that over the years
many theatre performances
about the story were created.
Graham Lambourne was the first
publicity officer at the Fairfield
in the 1970s, and helped to promote
events such as this one.
In the tell 'clip' Graham remembers
a very different event when the
America rock group
'Blood, Sweat and Tears'
came to Croydon.
Hearing music from the Halls
down Katharine Street was great publicity
for the venue.
