Joyce Daniels bought this evening dress in the mid 1950s at Louvre Corner, a ladies' outfitters on the corner of Mint Walk and High Street, Croydon. Joyce was very fashion conscious and also shopped at Derry and Toms in Kensington and at an exclusive shop in Coulsdon. She wore this dress when she entered a fashion show and to dances at the Hammersmith Palais, Chiswick Empire, the Lyceum, and Victory House in Holborn. She enjoyed all kinds of dancing: waltz, foxtrot, two-step, jiving and bebop. Kindly lent by Joyce Daniels
