Title

Coulsdon Heights' Brochure
1930s
Description

A marketing brochure advertising new housing at "Coulsdon Heights" during the 1930s.

The Coulsdon Heights Estate Company was one of many which built houses on the outskirts of Croydon in the 1930s. They targeted "those of us who like to live where the flowers will retain the colours that nature gave them, yet must, or prefer to, remain at a convenient distance from Cheapside or Oxford Street. Let us say at once that from North Coulsdon Station electric trains take you to Victoria in thirty six minutes. You will hardly expect to find the kind of district you want, a district where bluebells still grow wild in the coppices and the air is untainted, at a spot you can reach in less time than that."
