A Post Office savings book and money box used by Ann Carter of Norbury in the 1940s and 1950s. Ann's parents opened a savings account for her when she was born in 1937. Ann would save her pennies in the money box, which had to be taken to the Post Office to be emptied and the money paid into her account. By the time she was 21 she had saved 100.
