Beyond Skin is an exhibition that challenges the myths about why people have tattoos and who has them. Filled with surprises and personal stories this new exhibition will challenge your viewpoint!
A group of 5 young people from the I Am Here project worked with photographer Antonia McGreachan to learn new skills and put these into practice in Time Bomb tattoo parlour on the High Street, Croydon. Working together with designer Ian Whitaker and the Museum of Croydon they have helped to curate this exhibition.
The Museum would like to thank the participants: Muhammad Dammir Boyce, Daniella, Mae Semakula-Buuza, Lizzie Gridley and Frank Kibble for their hard work and commitment.
We would all like to thank: Ian Whitaker, Antonia McGreachan and the team at Time Bomb for their continued help, patience and support!
Beyond Skin is part of Stories of the World, one of the major projects at the heart of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The Cultural Olympiad began in 2008, and uses the power of the Olympic and Paralympic Games to inspire creativity across all forms of culture, especially amongst young people.
